Today we were glad to have the opportunity to visit with Royer Human Resources Director, Christy Jester! You’ll always find Christy with a smile on her face, as she takes great pride in making Royer a fantastic place to work.
Christy began her career at Royer on our Sales Team and has recently transitioned into her current role as Director of Human Resources. If you have a question about anything at Royer, it’s safe to say that Christy will be able to answer it!
We invite you to take a moment or two to get to know Christy, a proud member of our “Swizzle Stick Squad” here at Royer!
Q: How long have you been employed at Royer?
Christy: 4 years. I started in Sales and transitioned to Human Resources about a year ago.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your position as the Director of Human Resources?
Christy: Making a difference in people’s lives & helping those that need work find it. Also, helping those that want to build upon their skills to do so.
Q: What does a typical day at the office consist of? Or is there such a thing?
Christy: LOL, that’s funny, Tom. There is no such thing. I have a lot of responsibility but above all, our employees are my priority and they, along with their needs, always come first.
Q: What has been your most memorable moment during your employment at Royer?
Christy: That’s a tough one for me, I have several. If I have to choose just one, it would be the announcement Roger made to the entire company letting us know he had purchased Royer. It was emotional, intense & extremely prideful.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world for a vacation, where
would it be and why?
Christy: Fiji; I have read it is one of the most beautiful places in the world to snorkel.
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues here at Royer may not know!
Christy: I actually had stand up time on stage at “Improv with Mitch Fatel” & won a joke contest … (this shouldn’t surprise anyone; they all know how funny I am.)
I also sang on live TV before a Dixie Chicks concert once … (I didn’t say I was good, I said I sang.)
Q: What is your favorite music genre? Any favorite artists or songs?
Christy: Another tough one. I love Rock! AC/DC is always at the top of my list. But my love for Country runs deep, too.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?
Christy: Adventures with my son, watching movies, riding horses, going to concerts, any outdoor event, spending time with family and friends, or just opening the sunroof in my car, windows down, music up & country cruising!
Q: If you could purchase a Royer product for your own personal use, which would it be and why?
Christy: I have seen so many amazing products designed and produced by our incredibly talented team that it would be hard to say just one, but since I must choose only one I’ll go with a custom swizzle stick, because if you’re using one, you are somewhere having fun!
