Even if you’re not in New Orleans today to celebrate Mardi Gras, you can still create cocktails that are famous on Bourbon Street.
Whether mixing at your bar or at home, the Sazerac and French 75 will authenticate your gathering, and as you’ll see in the demonstration videos below, they are easy to put together!
First up is the Sazerac.
The Sazerac is a cocktail that has been around for quite some time and is known as the official cocktail of The Crescent City. It’s also known as one of America’s oldest cocktails, as it dates back to Pre-Civil War Louisiana. This aromatic drink is quite strong and complex, so be ready for a burst of flavor that packs a punch!
Ingredients:
- Rye Whiskey (2 ounces)
- Absinthe (1/8 ounce)
- Peychaud’s Bitters (3-4 dashes)
- Sugar Cube
- Lemon Twist

Next on our list is the French 75. This popular and powerful cocktail is another great way to bring the party atmosphere of Bourbon Street to your guests! This stiff cocktail acquired its name from a 75mm field gun used in World War I. Give your party-goers something to talk about with this punchy, Mardi Gras favorite!
Ingredients:
- Gin (1 Ounce)
- Champagne (3 Ounces)
- Powdered Sugar (1 tablespoon)
- Fresh Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
